Highland Hydroseeding Contractors, Covering the Highlands, Inverness & Scotland.
Hydroseeding is a fast and cost effective way to grass seed your new lawn.
Hydroseeding accounts for approximately 90% of all lawn installations in the USA and is fast becoming ever more popular in the UK.
The costs involved to have your lawn hydroseeded is less than a 1/4 of the cost of using turf, and in a few weeks you will have a lawn looking just as good with no need to worry about having to water the turf (which is a big concern in the summer)
The grass seeds of your new lawn or site will be “sprayed on.” (see above video) The protective mulch covering has an attractive green appearance which makes it look like grass as soon as the hydroseeding has been carried out.
"If you have a steep slope that needs to be grass seeded, Hydroseeding is the answer!"
A special blend of grass seed will be used, which will be chosen for the conditions of your lawn and the requirements you have. The factors that go into the decision making of the type of seed will be - the amount of sun or shade your lawn gets, the terrain, the type of soil, if you have children or pets and what your lawn will be used for. We work with professional seeding experts that will help us give you to a beautiful lush green lawn. Your lawn will be hydroseeded with a fully tested, high quality, certified grass seed mix.
Grass seed germination time will depend on the weather, time of year, amount of water the seed will get, the area you live in and other factors, but usually
grass will be visible in 7 days, a few days slower in cold weather or the driest part of summer.
You will be surprised how inexpensive it is to have a truly outstanding lawn that has been hydroseeded.
ADVANTAGES OF HYDROSEEDING OVER DRYSEEDING
Hydroseeded lawns come up "germinate" faster. The contact of the seed with water within the mulch will trigger the germination cycle strait away. We sometimes see grass germination in 5 days (when conditions are very good)
Hydro seeding has an attractive green mulch which gives a great appearance that looks far better than lawns dry seeded lawns
Hydroseeding allows the custom tailoring of the proper blend of seed for your lawn. It is not uncommon to use two or even three seed mixtures for custom spraying the right seed for different areas on the lawn or job. As hydroseeding contractors we can use one seed for shady areas, one for high traffic areas, and one to make the front lawn a showpiece.
Hydro Seeding mulch adds to the humus content of a lawn as it decomposes, which means the mulch acts as a natural compost which has a high organic matter content.
ADVANTAGES OF HYDROSEEDING OVER TURF
Turf is a good solution for a new lawn and sometimes the best option, however it is expensive.
Turf generally costs 5 times more than hydroseeding. Hydroseeding will produce a lawn as nice looking as a turfed lawn within a very short time at a significant cost saving.
With hydroseeding the new seedlings are grown on your soil. Turf can have a problem with the type of soil it was grown on not having sufficient
compatibility with the soil it is planted on. This is called "not taking".
If you have ever seen turf that looks like it could be rolled right back up even years after it was laid, that is because the turf that did not take. (This is not anyone’s fault, it is a combination of things.
Turf does require care. It does produce a beautiful lawn should you decide to use it. Or as some people do, decide to turf the front lawn, and hydroseed the back lawn.
No matter how large or small the project, hydroseeding is an extremely cost effective and successful method of establishing new vegetation.

"To round up"
Hydroseeding is a grass seed sowing process that is fast, efficient and economical. Although not producing instant effects as achieved with instant turf, the process is far more cost effective.
Hydroseeding begins by mixing cellulose fibre and wood fibre mulch, seed, fertiliser and water in the tank of a hydro-mulching machine. Once mixed, the material is pumped from the tank and sprayed onto the ground. The mix is referred to as slurry. Once it is applied to the soil, it enhances the growth by providing an ideal environment for seed germination. (As always, the climate and local water continue to play an important part in assisting germination speed).
